PITCH Perfect 3 is happening.
Sources toldThe Hollywood Reporter negotiations are underway with Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two movies, to return for a third.
Elizabeth Banks, who produced and co-starred in the first and made her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, also confirmed discussions about a threequel have kicked off.
“We’re thinking about it, we’re thinking about it very seriously,” the 41-year-old actress told Access Hollywood last week.
“Of course we’re at the very beginning of that process. We would
love to spend more time with these characters that everyone’s fallen so
hard in love with.”
It is not clear if Banks has signed on to direct (or even star in) the third instalment.
With Pitch Perfect 2 grossing an epic $US250 million at the
global box office since its May 15 release, punters have no doubt a
third movie will be made.
The question now is, though, which castmates (including the Barden Bellas) will sign on for the new flick?
Back in April, Aussie star Rebel Wilson (who plays Patricia “Fat Amy”) told Los Angeles Times that PP3 was definitely happening and she had already signed on.
The popular assumption is that 29-year-old Anna Kendrick, who played
the character Beca Michelle in both flicks, is done with the franchise.
But MTV predicts Hailee Steinfeld (who played Emily in PP2) will return to the fold.
Stay tuned.
