When his 17-year-old partner was so nervous about performing poorly in the country’s national exam to gain entry to university, Ayan Zhademov devised a daring plan.
He went undercover dressed as a girl in an attempt to take the exam on her behalf. Unfortunately for the couple, the elaborate rouse was foiled when school administrators suspected something was a little off.
A spokesman for the exam board said, “We suspected it might be another woman that had taken the candidate’s place, but we never suspected it was a man that had taken her place. At least not until he started speaking,” reports UK’s Yahoo!
While he apparently tried speaking in a higher voice, he wasn’t fooling anyone.
The modern-day Casanova was fined $2800 for his troubles. But he did draw admiration from other female students who were quite taken with his effort.
“It was stupid, but very romantic,” fellow exam-taker Dariga Nesterova said.
“Sometimes love leads us to do silly things, I wish my boyfriend was this romantic.”
Another student called his actions “brave” and said his girlfriend was lucky to have “someone who will risk everything for her”.
While the 17-year-old will have to wait until next year for another chance to sit the exam, a businessman has stepped in to help pay the fine for Mr Zhademov.
Apparently he was so enamoured with the love-struck prank he felt compelled to cover half the cost.
“I suspect that his romantic moves in the future will be more legal,” businessman Olzhas Hudaibergenov said.
