West Bromwich Albion look to sign Zenit striker Salomón Rondón

West Brom are ready to smash their transfer record for the Zenit St Petersburg striker Salomón Rondón.
The forward is believed to be in the country, with Albion targeting the player. Albion are after further firepower despite signing Rickie Lambert from Liverpool, as they look to help Saido Berahino up front.
The Baggies spent around £10m on the Nigerian striker Brown Ideye last summer but any outlay on Rondón would eclipse that.
Ideye was close to leaving in January and any move for Rondón would cast doubt over his future at The Hawthorns. Victor Anichebe may also be surplus to requirements at the Baggies after an injury-plagued two years at the club.
Venezuela international Rondón started his career at Aragua in his home country and has also played for Las Palmas, Málaga and Rubin Kazan. He joined Zenit in 2014 for a reported fee of around £16m.
The Baggies host Manchester City on Monday, with Joleon Lescott a minor doubt against his former club after missing two days of training this week.
