Tottenham don't need too many signings despite lack of strikers, insists Pochettino

The Argentine has claimed that the Londoners do not need to purchase lots of forward-thinking players this summer and defended his squad's versatility in attacking areas
Mauricio Pochettino believes that, while Tottenham's hopes rest largely on striker Harry Kane, the Londoners do not necessarily need to bring a number of strikers into the club this summer.

Spurs are short of attacking options, with Kane set to lead the line for Tottenham throughout the Premier League season as Villarreal-bound Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor head for the exit door.

Lyon striker Clinton N'Jie is set to complete his move to White Hart Lane in the near future and, while Tottenham lack a spread of goalscorers, Pochettino is satisfied with their options in attacking areas.

Speaking to reporters, Pochettino claimed: "We have different players that can play like a striker and we have different offensive players that can play in different options."

"But I think we don't need too much players [new signings] to bring in.

"Sometimes you have five strikers, like Liverpool last season, and they were sixth.

"Harry Kane scored 31 goals [in all competitions], Adebayor two. Soldado five. You never know in football."

Only two other Tottenham players reached double-figure goals in the Premier League last season - Nacer Chadli (11) and Christian Eriksen (10) - and neither are strikers.
