The 17-year-old midfielder is set to become the fifth Stamford Bridge youngster to join the Eredivisie side on loan
Solanke, 17, impressed for Chelsea’s youth team last season, and was handed the No.35 shirt by Jose Mourinho last month.
But the young forward will now be the fifth Stamford Bridge youngster to be sent on loan to partner club Vitesse for the 2015-16 campaign after the Dutch side issued a statement on Tuesday.
"Dominic Solanke will be training with
Vitesse from Tuesday on,” the statement read. “The attacker has a fine
reputation as a proven goalscorer and represented England at Under-16,
U-17 and U-18 level. Club and player hope to agree terms shortly."
Mourinho had said earlier in April that he
planned to use Solanke in his first team squad this season, adding that
it would be a "big mistake" for the youngster to go out on loan.
But the Portuguese coach has since signed
Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan deal from Monaco, increasing
competition for places up front along with Diego Costa and Loic Remy.
Solanke will join Danilo Pantic, Isaiah
Brown, Nathan and Lewis Baker at Vitesse should he agree a loan move,
with Nemanja Matic, Tomas Kalas and Gael Kakuta previous Chelsea loanees
at the Dutch club
