Heldt confirms Juventus holding talks with Draxler

The Bundesliga club have allowed the midfielder to discuss personal terms with the Serie A champions while the two clubs negotiate a bid
Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has confirmed that Juventus have been given permission to hold talks with attacking midfielder Julian Draxler.

Goal revealed earlier on Tuesday that the Bundesliga side had allowed the 21-year-old to hold preliminary negotiations with the Scudetto holders, despite a fee between the clubs having not yet been agreed.

Heldt has since verified that information to German newspaper Bild: "Juventus sent us a written request asking for permission to speak with Draxler’s agent. We have agreed to that request.

"However, at the moment we haven’t received an actual offer from the Turin club."

Juventus are believed to be willing to offer €25 million for the Germany international, who was part of the squad which won the World Cup in Brazil last summer.

Draxler's contract at the Veltins Arena runs until 2018 and until June 30 this year he had a €45m release clause. Schalke value him between the two figures, with a €35m fee wanted from last year's Champions League finalists.

Juventus are in the process of rebuilding their squad, which has been hit by the departures of Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo, while Arturo Vidal is expected to join Bayern Munich in the coming days.
