Blind takes over as Netherlands boss

The 53-year-old has been handed a three-year deal as head coach, but his performance will be reviewed in the summer of 2016

Danny Blind has been appointed as the new head coach of Netherlands following Guus Hiddink's departure.
The 53-year-old served as Hiddink's assistant during his ill-fated reign but has been named his successor and handed a three-year deal until 2018.
Blind's position will, however, be reviewed next summer based on the success of his team's bid to qualify for Euro 2016.
KNVB director Bert van Oostveen said: "We are pleased that after the departure of Guus Hiddink we were so quickly able to find an in-house, suitable successor. We wish Danny - along with his staff - every success."
Blind gave his reaction to his appointment and stated that his immediate priority is to ensure Netherlands reach next summer's finals in France.
"Along with staff and players, I will be working hard to qualify for the European Championship finals next year," he said.
"That's my only goal, getting to the Euros. Now is not the time to look back, only forward. Reaching the European Championship is all that matters."
Netherlands are currently third in Group A of Euro 2016 qualification, trailing leaders Iceland by five points and second-placed Czech Republic by three points after six games.
